A woman walks through a sea of yellow. In her hands she carries flowers—colors, scents, memories. Her face remains open, without a name, and in this lies her strength: she stands for many, for generations, for the lived everyday life of Mexico. Violet, turquoise, and the radiant white of the blossoms blend into a quiet melody of color.
Life dances around her. In the ochre silhouettes of the background, scenes of daily life appear: work and movement, music and encounter. Like signs of a secret script, they cover the surface of the painting—codes meant not to be read, but to be felt. Aromas de Color is not an image of reality, but a memory, an echo, a fragrance of lived culture.
Luis José Ramírez Cortés, born in Oaxaca, draws from the depth of his heritage and his international training. After studying at the Academy of San Carlos and completing postgraduate studies in graphic arts at the University of the Arts in Warsaw, he developed a visual language that connects the personal with the collective. His works have been exhibited worldwide and tell of everyday life in Mexico with respect, warmth, and poetic clarity.
