Festin (2022) – Luis José Ramírez Cortés
From the series “Códigos Mexicanos”
A scent of corn and music fills the air. Festin is not merely a painting – it is a living rhythm, a culinary poem painted in the colors of the Mexican heart. Luis José Ramírez Cortés, born in Oaxaca, captures in this work the soul of everyday life: people gathering around a street food stand, sharing food, words, and glances – a dance of community beneath the protective canopy of the sky.
The scene glows with life. The figures are not just guests at a meal but carriers of stories, memories, and traditions. With a confident hand, the artist weaves together elements of music, flavor, and social closeness into a visual celebration that speaks of warmth and belonging. The monochrome background lets the scene appear like a dream – clear, intense, timeless.
Trained at the Academy of San Carlos and the University of the Arts in Warsaw, Ramírez Cortés presents with Festin a work that reaches far beyond the canvas. It is part of his series “Códigos Mexicanos”, in which he deciphers and recomposes the cultural codes of Mexico – with brush, soul, and devotion.
This original piece is available exclusively through Mexhaus/Ramirez Handel – accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. An invitation not only to see Mexico, but to feel it.
