Hello passionate about Mexican gastronomy and culture! In this edition of the blog we will talk about a quick to make and delicious dish... nachos. Nachos are a dish originally from Mexico that is prepared by frying pieces of corn tortilla and covering them with cheese.
Legend has it that, in the city of Piedras Negras around 1943, Coahuila, there was a small restaurant called El Moderno. One day, several U.S. military wives came to the restaurant after it had closed. The chef, Ignacio Anaya, ingeniously prepared a dish for them with the few ingredients available: tortillas, cheese and corn. One of the diners asked the waiter "What is the name of this dish?", and the waiter responded with "Nacho", like the chef's nickname.
Nachos have become popular in much of the world, especially in the United States, because they are easy to make and can be customized to taste.
The fundamental components of this dish are tortilla chips, melted cheddar cheese and jalapeño peppers. However, it is possible to create a variety of combinations, among the most used ingredients are: shredded cheese, beans, corn, guacamole, cream, salsa, carne asada, chorizo, among others.
